Alan Melson is the Vice President of Digital. He is responsible for all KERA digital properties and oversees the station’s community engagement and educational services.
Alan joined KERA in 2007. He has developed a robust digital presence including a network of websites, mobile apps, live streams, on-demand video content and podcasts.
KERA’s digital audience has quadrupled over the past decade, reaching millions of users each year. The organization has won accolades for websites and online content, including awards from the Online News Association, Texas Associated Press Broadcasters and the Radio Television Digital News Association.
KERA’s education and community engagement departments have also grown under his leadership, building lasting relationships with vital community partners, including local school districts and non-profit organizations. These efforts touch the lives of thousands of children and families across North Texas every year.
Prior to KERA, Alan spent seven years with Belo Corporation, including four years as a digital and assignments editor at WFAA-TV and three years as a digital news editor for The Dallas Morning News.
He graduated with a degree in journalism from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
